Blaming God?!!
Genesis Chapter 2: 8 ¶ And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. 9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. 15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 ¶ And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Chapter 3 : 1 ¶ Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6 ¶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. 8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. 9 ¶ And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11 ¶ And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
It is interesting to note that the first effect of the sin in the Garden of Eden had on Adam and Eve was that their relationship with the Father was broken.
They now knew shame for their sin, and hid themselves from the presence of God.
Adam even blamed God such was his shame, "The woman whom thou gavest to be with me ..."
Prior to this, they had walked and talked with the Lord in the garden, free from any shame whatsoever.
Prior to this, they had walked and talked with the Lord in the garden, free from any shame whatsoever.
God wanted Adam and Eve to trust Him when he comanded them to not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for he warned them that in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
The Father knew that if they chose not to trust Him, they would suffer a broken relationship with Him. This was the first result.
So now, not only were they filled with shame, but they now had the knowledge of good and evil as well.
The knowlege of good and evil as well as a broken relationship with the Father, meant they would therefore always choose sin and surely die.
This is the law of sin and death.
So the Garden of Eden was all about whether they would Trust the Father and Obey Him.
Trust must come first before obedience. We obey the Father to the degree that we trust Him.
Eventually the Father and Son together paid the price of our betrayal and lack of trust and restored us to relationship with them.
Jesus Christ became the Tree of Life for us, so that we can partake of Him, the Son of God, and once again, trust in Him, trust fully in Him, to restore us in relationship with the Father, free now from shame and condemnation. He fully yielded and trusted the Father as He redeemed us from the death and shame of sin. When we put our faith and trust in what He has finished and done for us on the Cross, we can now have access by Faith into peace with God. We are justified freely by His tremendous Grace. We now, restored to the Father, can once again, learn to trust the Father, and delight in the perfect will of our Father for our lives. We can now enter into that tremendous relationship with the Father that we were created to have, free from shame and a partaker and participant in that love relationship with Him.
